Didn’t they tell us this pandemic supposed to last about two weeks if we all just washed our hands?
We followed the rules. We stayed home. We flattened the curve.
So why does it seem like this thing will never end?
When you think about it, we have just had to make some little changes. A million. Little. Changes.
I’m okay wearing a mask to help others. Oh shoot – where’s my mask? Why do my glasses keep fogging up? I hate my job. I need a job. Is my unemployment running out? That guy is definitely only 5 feet away from me. I just want to hug my grandmother. She just wants to hug anybody.
And we have all had to make these changes so fast, it’s hard to remember all the new rules. Take a moment to breathe. You will get through this.
You are still here. Breathing. Reading. Chalk those up in the win column.
It’s hard at times like this to remember anything good. But it’s important to try. Take time to write down a list of things you are thankful for. What is going good in your life? Be aware of the little things, too.
Try it right now. Stop and think of 3 things you are grateful for. Take all the time you need. Now really think about those 3 things and how much better your life is because of them. Did your mood change, even for a minute? Did you feel some stress go away?
Make that list, and keep it with you. Whenever you need just pull it out and reflect.
But please don’t wait until you are overwhelmed by all the little changes. Reach out to a friend, and remember we are always here to listen.
If you’d like to talk to someone, we’re here to help. And don’t forget we now offer Teletherapy so we can meet via the internet. Just reach out to us to schedule an appointment. Feel free to leave us a written message on the contact page or call us at 234-466-6274.
